SPLASH YOUTH
SPLASH Youth is a department within SPLASH (South Poplar and Limehouse in Action for Securing Housing) which has been created to deliver services for the young people of Blackwall in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets who are aged 13 - 19.
SPLASH Youth has been up and running for the past 15 years, delivering and engaging Young People who are in need of specific services and resources, from engaging young people with Learning Difficulties to providing Positive Activities to those who are at risk.
Over the years, the department has grown, engaging and providing for a wider range of Young People with wider needs. We believe that young people need Help, Support and Guidance to make the transition from Childhood to Adulthood from (Dependency to Independency); this is main purpose and foundation of any Youth Work.
From providing weekly engagement projects such as Youth Activities and Sports Programmes to Accredited Training Programmes such as the Community Sports Leaders Award and First Aid.
We are also the largest Youth Organisation in Blackwall with a track record of positive and productive work which has helped thousands of young people over the years.
SPLASH Youth have massively contributed to the positive Development and Growth of Young People, our work is recognised by the Local Authority (Tower Hamlets Council), many Business Cooperations and Other Voluntary Groups.
We thank all of funders for their generous contribution to our work, without their support, our work would have not been possible.

A mix of active, imaginative and creative play makes for a brilliantly balanced diet of play:
Creative play is about drawing, painting, playing music, cooking, or making something (anything!). Through creative play, children express his themselves.
Imaginative play- children try to understand the world, investigate fact and fiction, and develop positive relationships with themselves and other people.
Active play- It’s a mixture of running, jumping, catching and dancing - all of which build strength and boost coordination. Active play is also a great way to learn about teamwork, release tension and feel truly free.
Through play, children learn about themselves and the world around them. It helps children understand their environment and gives them a chance to learn and to practice new skills. Here are just a few examples of what children learn and practice every time they play:
To facilitate children’s play we provide various activities and programmes throughout the year. Our Play provisions offer a safe and friendly environment for children to play and explore new skills, friendships and themselves. Children are nourished with exciting and creative play activities, following the Play Principles, all encouraged by experienced and qualified Level 3 playworkers, giving children many opportunities to contribute their ideas.
Our sessions are inclusive and are attended by children of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. We operate 5 play sessions every week from Tuesdays to Saturdays. Our play sessions are free of charge, and children are free to come and go as they wish and are free to choose what they do.
We work in partnership with the local community, local schools, parent groups and various partner play organisations and on average 95 participants aged between 8 to 13 years attend our play clubs every week.
SPLASH ARTS CLUBS
SPLASH Arts are a small, but innovative team within SPLASH. We provide art activities for young and old.SPLASH Arts currently run 4 art clubs; One for older people where the focus is on painting techniques - in particular water colours - we are currently painting pictures of sights in Malaysia. Another is a sewing club where the participants are making dresses for social occasions. We also have 2 clubs for children, who are currently making films or a video. They also like drawing and painting. Our clubs and activities provide a diversion from the negative things in life and an avenue to the better things. like learning skills, being creative and socialising.

SPLASH ARTS
OVERVIEW
The SPLASH Community Arts programme works with children, young people and families in order to build bridges between different age and ethnic groups. It has developed an innovative programme for children with special needs. The programme works across all the estates in Blackwall, working in collaboration with the SPLASH Children and Young People's programme (Youth programme) and with the SPLASH Community Development programme.
GLASS BRIDGE PROJECT
The Glass Bridge artwork is an ambitious project to adorn the Poplar DLR station footbridge crossing from Blackwall to Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs. the Bridge links the poorer regions of Blackwall with the splendid riches of canary wharf and the business sector therein. Our artwork involves people from both areas working on the same artwork with the same materials, paintbrushes and largely the same ideas.
The finished artwork will be transferred to vinyl and installed in the Bridge in November. We are also preparing to paint a mural in a local hotel, make a play and run art clubs. As part of our capacity building role we are using art as a tool or devise to build confidence and skills in young and older people.
